Science Fun

If you have a few materials around the house and a willingness to design, test and play, here are a few activities you might like:

1. Using only one sheet of paper, design, test and revise until you can create the paper airplane that will go the greatest distance.

2. Use two sheets of 8.5 X 11 paper, plus a meter of masking tape. Create a boat that will hold the greatest amount of weight in the bathtub without sinking. (I recommend coins as weights.) If you don't have paper and tape (or are a beginner scientist), try it with a square of foil.

3. Build a Rube-Goldberg machine.

4. Use only one pack of cards. Build the tallest structure possible.

5. Build a container, using found materials, that will protect an egg from a 3 meter fall.
