Dear and Gentle God,

Thank you for mothers (and the valiant souls who step up to fill the void when our mothers cannot be there). 

Thank you for giving each mother a unique and wonderful set of gifts and talents. 

Thank you for the time our mothers spend - to lead, to follow, to believe, to carry, to worry, to inspire, and to delight in the people we become.

Guide them in showing us to look for the very best in every person and situation, and to approach life with a kind and giving heart. 

Lord, please be the daily bread of mothers. Fill them with strength and patience and good humour. Give them the gift of showing their children that each one fills her heart with sunshine. Bathe them in laughter and joy as they carry out your precious work.

Thank you for mothers. They are the voices in our heads, and we are blessed - their hugs last long after they let go. 

On this special day honouring our mothers, please let them know that they are loved.
