Tuesday, March 24 - Day 2:

The following site has been set up by the Ontario government for home use:

https://www.ontario.ca/page/learn-at-home

You will find a wide range of games and activities tied to the curriculum.

You have choices. We will continue to provide resources.

Please submit Challenge of the Day #1 as soon as possible to [email protected].

I can’t wait to share the students’ work!

(Not all superheroes have capes. Those who can, stay home and keep others’ safe. Those who can’t are probably working the front lines - nurses, doctors, cleaners, drivers, workers at grocery stores and pharmacies….there are so many.

Can you find a creative way to thank those front line workers or those people who stay home to protect others? Use a poster in your window, share a link that promotes gratitude, or create a video. Find your own way to express your thanks - art, song, dance - it is all up to you. Share what you have created with [email protected] )

Challenge of the Day - Day #2

Please get creative and submit a video that teaches others how to stay safe during COVID-19. If you are stuck for ideas, check these out:

Google Classroom:

Many of our teachers are using Google Classroom. Older students are usually completely independent, having used it in class, but younger ones may need a hand the first or second time. They can access Google Classroom for the first time by going to “classroom.google.com” and joining a class using the specific code provided by the teacher.

Parents, check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Iowi-gmbys

From Mrs. Pozzo:

Home Learning Math Enrichment Opportunities:

1) Caribou Math Contest Practice.  Please practice now for the Wednesday April 8th Caribou Math Contest. Yes, the contest can be written from home, following the rules of getting no outside help and using no outside tools (no calculators). The grade 2 level game will be MAZES and the grade 3-8 level game will be iCHOMP. Visit https://cariboutests.com/  Contact [email protected] if you forgot your login information for the contest.

2) Visit the University of Waterloo for enrichment math tasks daily. Most weekdays, they will post something for each of the following grade levels: Grade 4 to 6 and Grade 7/8. The goal is to provide a wide variety of fun and educational ways to do mathematics and computer science while at home practicing social distancing. The resources will include games, new problems to solve, applications, videos, pointers to existing materials and more.  https://cemc.uwaterloo.ca/resources/cemc-at-home.php
